Our Method
“COP in MyCity” is an awareness-raising youth-led project organized in many cities of the world, around one of the official UNFCCC Conferences of the Parties. It can be a several months-long, large scale process, or a shorter and smaller series of creative events. It follows two main steps:
STEP ONE : Simulation of a COP in your City
→ Training: in order to reach as many people as possible, we need to ensure that everyone understands what is at stake.
→ Simulation of international negotiations: they are one of the best tools to make people understand climate negotiations and climate issues. Discover more about simulations on this dedicated page and by asking for the Simulation Toolkit at copinmycity@climates.fr.
STEP TWO : Action in your city
→ Mobilization: Let’s make some noise! We need to mobilize citizens and young people in our cities for everyone to know what’s going on in the negotiation processes and empower yourself with local and concrete actions. That is the time where we bridge the gap between the COP and us.
→ Empowerment: Skill-sharing, launching concrete projects for attenuation and adaptation to climate change.
During the project : participation to events gathering and international community and final debriefing before the COP
→ International community: inclusion in an international community of young dedicated to address climate change and participation to international events.
→ Debrief: This time is devoted to discussion within our team and within the COP in MyCity community. We will share the results of our simulations and mobilisations, we will also use those materials to represent part of Youth ready to act on climate change during COPs.
