Sustainable Urban Living Association, also known as SULA, is a Non-Governmental Organisation that involves research and advocacy for sustainable solutions in urban living. Its objective is to promote a cleaner, healthier and sustainable urban living in Malaysia. Its main activities include research and publication of themes on water, forest, waste management, health, transport system, energy, social problems, etc., and organization of training and awareness-raising events and projects.

Why did you join the COP in MyCity community?
"I joined COP in MyCity because I wish to further work with the MGCY (Major Group for Children and Youth), which I first met in Rio+20) and to raise awareness on the issues of global climate change and local environmental problems.
This simulation of negotiations will be a great opportunity for university students to learn what is going on regarding the UNFCCC rather than simply attend lectures and lab works. I believe that this kind of interactive session is an opportunity to trigger students' interest in the issue as well as to push for a positive change in their lifestyles."

Welcome to Warsaw in Hyderabad, India! This project is led by the youth group (R)Evolution.

(R)Evolution is an organization started by a group of individuals working towards Climate Change Mitigation measures, Wildlife Conservation, Social Service through various platforms.
They basically intend to provide opportunities for people who have awaited to work for a cause but couldn't come across an opportunity. They consider that proper support and information are one of the most important factors to lead forward a change.

Why did you chose the COP in MyCity community?
"After the event of COP11 to CBD, we led several youth-centric initiatives,  which focused on community building and leadership at the ground level. However, after the COP11, there were no venues of the same caliber any more. We consider that through COP in MyCity, we have the perfect platform to reach and influence the policy making process.
We, through (R)Evolution Let's Change Now ! would utilize the COP in MyCity initiative to be an active stakeholder in the process of change".

Welcome to Warsaw in Chitwan, Nepal!

Nepal is becoming a hub for the COP in MyCity community! Warsaw in Chitwan is led by Deepak Raj Joshi, an active member of CliMates' international network. Learn more about him on CliMates' website!

Why did you chose to join the COP in MyCity project?
"I have always wanted to participate in the international UNFCC Climate negotiations. Being an active youth I would like to share the views and suggestion of the rural youth who are never considered during the negotiations. Thus what I believe is COP in MyCity will be the best way to get involved even from my city.  It will help to raise the climate change issues of my poor and mountainous country Nepal.  Most of the world leaders are just playing the game of blame and they are doing just nothing for the protection of our mother Earth. Thus I want to show them how we rural youth are acting against the climate injustice and want to make realize them who are actual nature lovers."

Welcome to our very first Asian COP in MyCity: Warsaw in Kathmandu!

About the Host Organization
The event is hosted by BYND2015 Nepal Hub which is an official hub for the BYND2015 processes affiliated to International Telecommunication Union (ITU) which aims to engage young people in decision and policy making processes and other related activities regarding the Post-2015 Agenda. Besides, it also focuses on capacity-building and awareness programs for young people regarding negotiation processes at grass root level.

About the Project Leader
This project is led by Kabita Gautam, Founder & Coordinator of BYND2015 Nepal Hub-ITU. She is an active, energetic and enthusiastic youth who is passionate about social media and networking and has been empowering and engaging hundreds of youth and children from local to global level for environmental issues. She is also working as a program assistant at The Small Earth Nepal (SEN) since 2012. Her contribution for youth capacity building and empowerment lead her as Founder and Mentor of Nepal Tunza Youth Environment Network (NTYEN) under the guidelines of UNEP and TUNZA in 2013. She has been appointed as Country Director by Youth Climate Report in 2011 for which she has been mobilizing youth to make videos on climate crisis. Similarly, she was nominated as one of the grantees of Youth Action Fund in 2012 for her project “The Environ Vibes: Social Networking on Move” during which she trained around hundred youth to blog. As a Nepalese youth delegate and only a leading female activist for South East Asia, she was nominated as the Social Media Focal Point for UNCSD Major Group for Children and Youth (MGCY) as well as the Team Leader for Green Economy Youth Task Force during the preparation process of Rio+20 Conference since 2011.

Why did you choose to join the COP in MyCity community?
I chose to join the COP in MyCity community because most of the time youth who are committed to climate actions and who are active in such activities do not get opportunity to join the COP, no matter wherever it is organized. Especially youth from developing countries are even not aware what is going on and how the world leaders are currently acting in the field of climate negotiations. I have been empowering and engaging many young people from local to global level events by disseminating the information via my networks and social media. Eventhough I was accredited I couldn't join the COP each year due to a lack of financial resources. As an alternative option, this community will provide with me the opportunity to create a vibration and a circle of young people uniting their voice for climate actions.
