The COP in MyCity community is pleased to welcome a new COP in MyCity project in Mali, in the capital city of Bamako. Meet Ornella, its coordinator.
"I am Miss Ornella Tchanque, I have an engineering background in Forestry, and during my entire university course I was very interested in climate change issues.
During my internship at the UNESCO office in Mali, I've heard of COP in MyCity and it immediately interested me because I identified with this project. I joined the COP in MyCity project and that is how I started to mobilize young people around me to carry highly the torch of this great project, extremely valuable especially coming from young people like us.
I fight a lot about the issues 'of environmental protection and the fight against climate change'; 'Peace and Security'. I am convinced that if we do not take responsible action to help mitigate climate change, this plague is likely to be the base of many conflicts in the world.
COP In My City is an opportunity for youth in Bamako to be informed on the progress of negotiations in the COPs, and make it useful in the fight against climate change in our city and give our opinions on the position of our country to the COP21 negotiations in Paris."
